  • Choose one type of commercial photography and produce 3 images in that style. Post these 3 photos to your blog.
  • Using those images you will create a magazine page advertising or telling about your object you photographed. Use Photoshop, Powerpoint, Microsoft word or Illustrator to produce your advertisement. When finished post to your blog.
*These assignments are all part of your final grade.
Research Paragraph-    10 pts
3 Commercial photos-  30 pts
1 Magazine page-          20 pts

What should I make sure to do? What should I think about?

  • How can a situation/object look more interesting than they do in real life?
  • Think about every single object in the frame. Are you sure you want it to be there?
  • Think about what you are trying to say with the photograph. Is it just “pretty”, or are you trying to tell the view something?
  • Think about the camera angle…is it boring? Does it help to say something about the subject?
  • Think about what focal length you want. Wide angle or zoom. Try framing the shot in different focal lengths before taking a picture. Which is the best composition?
  • Think about where you point you camera to meter a scene. Is it a really dark place or a really light place? Make sure it is not too light or too dark. Make sure to use correct exposure. DON'T even bother taking the photo if you don’t have good lighting

portrait

This is Gordon. He is my friend mostly because he smiles at me, laughs when I tell jokes, and holds my hand to walk around. This photo is interesting because of the natural light shining on Gordon. His eyes draw the view in and look alive because of the light reflecting in them. His eyes are also lay on a third line of the photo. Any distracting elements have also been cropped out.

Portrait

This is my Dad. He loves to work out in our garden and is great at it. He can grow anything. This is a portrait of him in our green house. The green house works as a diffuser for the light so that it isn't direct high contrasting light. I used a wide angle lens in order to get a full body shot. I also included leading lines in the shot. My Dad is my friend because he listens to me, gives me advice, protects me, goes on runs with me, supports me, and makes me laugh.
Do you like it with or without vignette?
